I've always said there's no escaping the past, but this isn't exactly what I meant.

Were I a younger man, I think I might have tried to make a life here. As it stands now I just want to get home.

I've a question, however: is the registry being used to perhaps reunite those that may not find each other otherwise or is it simply a tracking mechanism? I personally don't need that sort of service but with the state of things it seems important to allow people familiarity.

HIS FACE IN THAT ICON

It is harrowing to read of the ways the government of your time has abused its power. I cannot begrudge you, or your peers, a certain level of distrust.

( sure, she can't read what's private, but she can read what he has said to 'p'. )

To the citizens of the here and now, however, Minister Riddle has proven himself to be a trustworthy and honourable man time and time again. There is no doubt in my mind that the displaced will come to the same conclusion.

IT'S SO APPROPRIATE

( she has no idea, none at all. )

We are certainly working towards this goal.

Of course, there are those who are rightfully concerned due to their horrifying past experiences, and then there may be those who are hiding from the government due to having led lives of violence and crime in their own time, with no intention of stopping. There is concern for the health and safety of our own at play.

Plus, everyone is registered, here. Pureblood citizens are rid of the trace when they turn seventeen, but that is only because they seem to be exempt from the disappearances that plague the rest of the population – mind, they have gone down dramatically after the decree was put in place. There are no exceptions, either: the Minister himself, being a half-blood, has the trace on him.

( so yeah your aunt did say something Good about a half-blood five minutes ago. )

( have you seen him? everything about tom riddle should count at least ten times. )

It is an excellent question, but I believe you misunderstood the core intention behind the implementation of the trace. Its sole purpose is to ensure the parts of the wizarding population for whose very protection the curfew has been set in place adhere to it. The sheer amount of spells recorded every day is high as is, to add the spells performed by all pureblood witches and wizards comes with the risk of muddying the waters.

For example, as it is now, any instance of a half-blood or muggleborn witch or wizard apparating after the curfew is picked up by the Improper Use of Magic office. The implications of a broken law aside, they also know this citizen to be in a potentially dangerous situation, and can react accordingly. Now add all the apparating and disapparating done by pureblood witches and wizards, all of whom do not appear to be in any danger at this time, and thus are free to roam around at night – how easy would it be to miss the one muggleborn or half-blood who tries to do the same? How devastating the consequences for them, their friends, their family?

We are all equal,
( SHE WOULD RATHER DIE ) but we are, unfortunately, not equally safe.

( THE ONLY THING THAT'S EQUAL IS THE EQUAL AMOUNT OF FILTH IN THE VEINS OF THOSE WHO CANNOT LABEL THEMSELVES PUREBLOOD –– except for tom riddle, of course, who is everything a wizard should be and more. )

I am afraid I simply cannot divulge information regarding ongoing investigations – frankly, while I am in full support of you asking all you need to ask of me, it is a little disquieting for you to do so without as much as giving your name.

Perfectly understandable.

My apologies, I have not properly introduced myself, either. My name is Bellarix Black, and I work for the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. The Time Deviant Registry is, as you may have already guessed, a cooperation between the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the D.M.A.C., so we might meet in person during your registration.

( and isn't that terribly exciting coincidence and not at all a thinly veiled way of saying that she'll check up on some of the newly registered folks in the near future? )
