things are getting hare(s)-y } anon as heck

What happened this morning was horrible. I hope that everyone recovers and that they're able to figure out exactly who is responsible for it.

[Not "who did it," necessarily. There's a reason for that.]

When I'm from, there's only a particular group of people that tend to know and have reason to use magic as horrid as that. I do hope the Ministry is making certain to focus their attentions on said particular people, no matter what their time status is.

[She doubts it.]

I would assume you're sending this out forward of reporting said particular people's names to one of the investigating aurors?

[ Most m.i.a.vi. messages are simply that, unsigned, but this one has an official-looking signature at the bottom, much like if it were an owl coming from the Ministry:

[Well. That's certainly a hint unexpected. She's never managed to be in touch with Ministry officials, so far as she knows-- Certainly not one as obvious as this.

The name isn't a familiar one, and if she's an Auror in this administration, she's probably not one to trust entirely.]

I would certainly consider it if there was a way to properly ensure anonymity and if I thought such a list would be welcome information.

That's unfortunate. I suppose we shall have to rely upon investigation techniques, and you can continue to shout accusations into the ether.

Oh, that wasn't me saying I wouldn't help if I could. It's just that when I'm from, people providing that sort have an unfortunate tendency to end up disappearing and the information getting buried, rather than it helping.

I'd much rather not have a repeat of that sort of thing.

If you were willing to send either a private, anonymous message to me or - if you think I'm potentially untrustworthy - to the office head Rabastan Lestrange, I'm certain we would at minimum check the alibis of any people you list.

Very well. Although I do suggest in the future that to get more of us to be helpful, you might want to have a way for us to reach the Ministry that isn't able to be tracked at all. Many of us are understandably wary of even this level of anonymity.

[Look at her being cautious. Draco should be proud.]

We will certainly discuss the need you have brought to our attention internally and consider what measures might be appropriate to maintain the anonymity of those who desire it, and who also desire to aid the Department in any current and ongoing investigations.

I know this list may look as though I'm trying to cause trouble, but it truly is who we'd likely suspect when I come from. Especially since there were Muggles involved.

There's a reason many of us deviants are a hesitant about this time period.

I'm not certain what the first names of those last few would be in this time. I'm also quite certain there's more than just these people, but these are the ones I know we'd be thinking responsible.

[ The entire list, Elektra thinks as she looks at it, smacks of conspiracy theory. The Minister. Three Department Heads, the Head of the Auror Office, a Hogwarts Professor. Luckily, sighs can't be heard via m.i.a.v.i., not this sort at least. ]

The last is Theodore Nott, I expect. And the spelling on the senior Lestrange brother's name is Rodolphus rather than Rudolphus.

We do thank you for the information. Have you encountered any of these people in this time, or are your suspicions based on events from the future?

[ Ironically, the Minister would be the easiest to determine an alibi for, because the Minister - in a gesture of apparant good faith - has the Trace. Elektra isn't particularly sure she agrees with the Trace, not for anyone, but she can see the advantage now, at least.

Of course everyone else on the list is pureblood, like her. ]

Largely future events. I haven't had any interactions with them face-to-face in this time. I believe I saw Ms. Black and perhaps one of the Lestrange brothers while at the Ministry for registration

[Which she regrets, now there's the Trace on her. She'd hoped being a registered pureblood would have put her in the position to be able to help some of the others more. Now it just seems to have added to the danger, and not in a way she would have preferred.]

And I can't imagine I haven't passed some of them in Diagon Alley, but I'll admit I've not been looking.

Ms. Black has deigned to also reply to this post, though. We've just begun having a conversation in private as well.

Of course, ideally these suspicions are all unfounded because everyone on this list is very different from how they are in the future, but I've rather lost faith in ideals, of late.

Probably. Registration is a joint endeavor between MLE and MAC.

[ Meaning if it wasn't Bellatrix or Rodolphus who gave her the trace to begin with, it was just as likely to have been one of the aurors currently recovering from Fiendfyre. ]

I imagine Ms. Black, as head of the DMAC, would be interested in someone who claimed to have knowledge of suspects in what has been one of the largest magical catastrophes in several years. Containing that particularly charm was almost more than the four of us who were first to the scene could handle.

I understand that you have little trust that people here are different than they are in your time. I can't even blame you for that. I'd feel the same way, and we will investigate.
But please know if there is nothing to tie anyone on your list to this morning - that's as far as it can go.

I protest the fact that the Prophet was so quick to point fingers at time deviants. I just want to make sure that people consider multiple perspectives and possibilities.

Have you considered that the Prophet may have better sources than you?
